Miniature Pinscher

Overview. The Miniature Pinscher is a small, spirited German companion dog with a sleek, deer-like build and a confident, high-stepping gait. Despite looks, it is not a scaled-down Doberman but an older, distinct breed.

History & Origin

Developed in Germany centuries ago to rid homes and stables of rats, the 'Min Pin' predates and is unrelated to the Dobermann.

Appearance & Coat

Compact and elegant, with a short, smooth coat in black-and-rust, red, or chocolate. Its hackney gait is a trademark.

Temperament

Fearless, lively, and opinionated, it acts far bigger than it is and needs respectful training.

Care & Exercise

Moderate exercise and minimal grooming; secure fencing matters given its curiosity.

FCI Recognition

Recognized by the FCI in Group 2 (Pinscher and Schnauzer – Molossian type – Swiss Mountain and Cattledogs).
